One can find many options and attachments offered for lift trucks. Though the majority of attachments are made to be used on regular lift trucks, there are some designed to be used on reach trucks and VNA. It is very essential to note that OSHA needs approval for any kind of attachment which should be approved for use by the specific manufacturer of lift truck.
The most important common attachment is the sideshift and is considered to be standard equipment. The sideshift device allows the fork carriage to slide right and left as well as allow for more accurate load positioning. The sideshift enables the operator to be more versatile with the machine.
The fork positioner is another attachment option which allows the operator to adjust the distance between the forks without having to get off of the truck. This specific attachment is mostly utilized in high volume operations where there is a wide range of crate and pallet sizes handled.
Fork pivots makes it possible for the forks and carriage to pivot and rotate. These attachments could be specially designed for dumping and transporting hoppers. These attachments are very useful for many industrial operations.
Slip sheet attachments are a different attachment which are used where slip sheets which is a paperboard, or plastic or a sheet of cardboard which are utilized instead of pallets. The slip sheet attachments use a push and pull device which clamps onto the slip sheet and pulls the cargo onto a thin platform. After that, the load is pushed off the platform when the truck reaches the destination.
Drum handling attachments come in many different designs. They are many different models attached to handle 55 gallon drums. There are some smaller versions of a paper roll clamps that go around the roll and also could rotate a full 360 degrees. There are other types of drum attachments that can pick up various drums all at once.
Tilt control is another option that enables you to preset fork tilt angles. The fork extensions are specialized extensions which slide over the existing forks on the truck so as to help you lift and transport longer loads. The Carton clamp operates like a paper roll clamp except instead of being round, the clamping surface is flat.
